After completing pre-reading activities, we read The Tell-Tale Heart by Poe. Then we watched the 7-minute movie based on the story.
Students wrote a paragraph comparing the print version with the movie version.I collected the paragraphs.

Thursday we had P2, 3, and 1; Friday we had P4, 5, and 6.
P3 finished their letters in the lab, turned in a hard copy, and e-mailed them to me.
In the other periods, we worked on deductive reasoning skills.

We then read "The Girl's Like Spaghetti" about why you can't manage without apostrophes! Students received a handout showing the main points and the rules for using the apostrophe (study this and know the rules). Their next assignment was to create six sentences following the pattern on the first side of the handout.
